The Art of Stacking

Stacking is a craft. Done well, it looks effortless. Done badly, it looks tangled. Here's how to get it right.

The MAEVA Rule of 3

The single most important stacking principle: three is the magic number.

One necklace looks like an accessory. Two looks like you tried. Three looks intentional — like a curated stack rather than a stack of things you happened to own.

Three pieces, with at least 2" of spacing between each, creates the visual triangle that makes layering look composed.

Three MAEVA Stacks to Try

Stack 01

The Effortless Daily

For: every day, no-effort layering.

  • Top: The Pearl Pendant (18") — your everyday anchor
  • Middle: One thin chain from The Pearl Stack (20")
  • Wrist: The Gold Chain Bracelet — single piece, no fuss

Throw on with a tee, a sweater, or a slip dress. Reads polished without trying.

Stack 02

The Elevated Evening

For: dinner, drinks, anywhere you want to look like you made an effort.

  • Top: The Pearl Choker (14") — the anchor
  • Mid layers: Full Pearl Stack (16", 18", 20")
  • Wrist: The Stack Bracelet Set — both bracelets together

A 4-layer neckline + a wrist duo. This is the "how is she so put together" look.

Stack 03

The Statement Stack

For: photographs. Weddings. The day you want to be noticed.

  • Top: The Pearl Choker (14") — dramatic anchor
  • Mid: The Pearl Pendant (18") solo, or with the Pearl Stack's tassel Y-necklace as drama
  • Wrist: Both bracelets stacked, plus a bare wrist on the other side for balance

Goes with anything monochrome — black, ivory, gold. Let the jewelry do the talking.

The Three Rules No One Tells You

1. Stick to one metal tone

Mixing gold and silver works — but it's an advanced move. For now, stay in gold. Every MAEVA piece is gold-toned for this reason.

2. Vary the textures, not just the lengths

A pearl strand + a thin chain + a pendant has more interest than three thin chains stacked. The Pearl Stack does this for you — it's why it works.

3. End the stack below your sternum, not above your belly button

Longer than 22" and the stack reads bohemian, not polished. Keep the longest layer at 20" max for the MAEVA aesthetic.
